SOB’S THE BIRTH PLACE OF GIANT STEP CELEBRATES 4O YEARS

SOB’S the celebrated music venue and the place where Giant Step was born, celebrated it’s 40th Anniversary. The evening included a proclamation from the Mayor of New York honoring the venue and owner Larry Gold.

Giant Step started at SOB’s after Mr. Gold agreed to help fund the companies first concert endeavors under the name Groove Academy. Some of these early concerts included performances from Bootsy Collins, Maceo Parker and The Ohio Players. A few months later a weekly party under the name Giant Step also started at SOB’s. Giant Step went onto to grow into a management company, record label and today as a creative marketing agency. The company continued doing events at the venue up until the early 2000s.
