Giant Step and Groove Academy’s first shows were held at the club SOB’s. Giant Step Co-Founder, Jonathan Rudnick, worked at SOB’s as head of publicity, and owner Larry Gold was a big supporter of our music vision. It therefore seemed fit to celebrate the club’s 15th anniversary with a reunion party in the original spot. DJ Jazzy Nice and musicians Genji Siraisi, Jonathan Maron, Gordon “Nappy G” Clay, Richard Worth (who flew in from his home in Scotland), Jay Rodriguez, Itaal Shur, Chillfreez, and a host of other friends and family attended.

By 2015, Le Bain at The Standard, High Line was now the home of Giant Step parties. These parties were held far less frequently due to the success of Giant Step’s marketing agency, which was the priority for our business. Our Le Bain parties were held sporadically, usually on a Monday. The Giant Step crew and DJs loved the venue, with its great sound system, views, rooftop, pool by the dance floor, and the great team that worked there. Our 25th anniversary party, held in 2015, was a reunion, with DJ sets from Nickodemus, Jazzy Nice, and help from musicians Genji Siraisi, Gordon “Nappy G” Clay, & Jay Rodriguez. As always, it was great to see old and new faces enjoying the music. A recording of the night is available for stream on Mixcloud.
