We first met Eric Hilton (who went on to become half of Thievery Corporation) when Giant Step took Massive Attack to Washington, DC to play at Fifth Column Club. Hilton was managing the club at the time, and later opened the iconic Eighteenth Street Lounge in DC. On the same trip, we also met Nicolas Matar (who went on to open Cielo and Output in NY) and Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia (who went on to form Deep Dish).

Eric went on to form Thievery Corporation with Rob Garza, and our relationship grew from there. He also released Exodus Quartet and Peace Bureau projects in the early ‘90s. Over the years, we produced multiple shows for them including SOB’s, Irving Plaza, and The Roxy to name a few. The shows scaled from smaller DJ performances to full scale live shows at theaters.

The following is from our “Miles A Head” series at Irving Plaza in 2000, shot by Hudson Gordon.

One of the most memorable and emotional performances was their rescheduled Roxy show, which had originally been set for September 13, 2001 and was postponed due to 9/11. We eventually put on the show on October 17 - it was one of our first large shows after the tragedy. Photos by Hudson Gordon of this special night are below.
