Straight No Chaser’s “Sidewinder”

Straight No Chaser was the music bible of our scene at the time, out of London. Paul Bradshaw, the editor-in-chief and publisher, had come out to the U.S. for Giant Step’s New Music Seminar showcases at the Village Gate in 1991, which happened to include the legendary night where we had Brand New Heavies and Galliano perform. Paul was impressed with what he saw and wanted to do a special “pull out” featuring what was happening with Giant Step and the whole U.S. scene. It was a deep dive into the scene, and included players like DJ Smash, Jazzy Nice, Jamalski, Camella Ehlke, Cormac McCourt, Richard Worth, and Repercussions. The issue also highlighted the LA scene.
